Houses continue to be built across Texas despite the suppressed real estate market.  But the Great Recession has changed the wants and needs of many buyers and many have come to expect different things from the home buying experience.  Gone are the days of the McMansion, today’s home buyer wants an affordable home with a modest footprint.  The classic front and side porch are making a comeback as builders produce more “in-fill” homes.  Porches are an excellent way to create a sense of community.  Another happening trend is going green.  Customers want more energy efficient homes and builders are beginning to cater to this large emerging demand.  Enjoy this weeks article on these and other emerging home trends for 2011.
